Palmetto AIDS Life Support Services was founded in
1985 to help South Carolinians fight the war against AIDS. We offer
free
services to people who have been
diagnosed with or are at risk of contracting HIV/AIDS, and we also work with
their loved ones. Since our inception, we have grown in size and in the number
of people we are able to reach. We have changed to meet the needs of those
we serve, but our mission remains the same.
We offer assistance and hope to those living with
HIV and AIDS. This includes help with everyday needs such as food,
housing and medical attention. It also includes emotional support
for our clients, their families, friends and loved ones.
We help educate and support healthcare providers
and professionals who with with human services agencies as well as
community groups, organizations and individuals.
We speak out for those who often can't speak for
themselves, to teach the truth and make it easier for people to work
together against HIV/AIDS. We provide the community with accurate
information on how the disease is transmitted, how it can be prevented
and what is available to those who live with it.
