EMPACT

Empowering Men Through Prevention Action Commnunity Collaboration and Training

EMPACT was created to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS, other sexually transmitted diseases, tuberculosis and hepatitis among African American males.  To this end, EMPACT accomplishes this goal by empowering African American males  living with HIV/AIDS, through prevention education, training and action.  EMPACT works to change risk behaviors and habits among African American men while working to increase HIV awareness.

EMPACT has four main components:

The two group level interventions conducted through EMPACT are Healthy Relationships and Many Men Many Voices (3MV). Community Outreach is conducted through condom distribution, HIV education seminars and display presentations. Individuals are referred to the Rapid HIV Counseling and Testing program during these activities. Individual level sessions are conducted with men to discuss issues that can help decrease the incidents of at risk behaviors.
